Thanks for visiting, Greg. Actually, this one is pretty easy to visit. There's a road that goes a long way through the canyon. And one doesn't HAVE to go into the slots.

The material is quite soft. It's called bentonite clay. It has a characteristic similar to slump blocks that used to be so popular in the Southwest. I have close-ups of the material. It looks like it would crumble in one's hand, but it's actually very hard. I had to use the side walls to push myself through some places, and it was hard as concrete. And there are stones embedded in it that make it quite interesting.

I played around with the last one using photoshop and there is a lot that can be done with the images. Did you have a reason to crop them so small? Post them in the For Your Consideration Forum and ask the same question. Again some good people who are willing to help.

Thanks. I'd like to know what you did. Could you pm me? They aren't cropped. I exported them as 4x6 to post on the internet. My full sized exports are way too large for this forum. I'll consider doing that. I haven't posted there for a long time.

Looks to me that pic nr.2 shows a bunch of petrified giant tree trunks, perhaps giant sequoias?
