The following is based on my experience and may be of interest to other Fujifilm X series camera users looking for alternative software to process Fujifilm RAF (raw) files. I had been using DxO Photolab for processing NEF raw files from my Nikon Cameras but DxO does not support Fujifilm RAF files so I began to look at other options. I was considering the Lightroom / Photoshop CC subscription but as I continued to research alternative software I found several references to On1 Photo Raw. Some reviews of On1 were favourable, others reported that it was slow and often crashed so I decided to try it for myself. I run Windows 10 on a modified Dell PC with an Intel i7-8700K CPU and 32GB RAM and to date after six weeks of use I have found processing speed to be acceptable and I have not had any crashes yet.

After the three week free trial period I decided to purchase which at A$103 (US$69.99) I thought was very good value. I particularly like that with On1 I can access my raw files directly from the Windows folders that I create when downloading them from my camera and then I save the processed images as 16bit TIFF files. I have found a lot of training videos on the internet and have not found the learning curve too daunting although I already had some idea of using layers and masks from limited experience with Photoshop Elements 11.

On1 Photo RAW 2019 also supports both of my Nikon cameras so I have been using it for processing Nikon NEF raw files also.
