Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 Lens on my D500

I have had the D500 since early 2017, but I only got the 200-500mm f5.6 zoom lens recently. These are some of the photos I have gotten with it. I must say for the price I have been pretty impressed with this lens. It is a little heavy to hand hold for any length of time, so most of the time I have been using it with my monopod.
For the picture of the moon I added my old Nikon TC-200 2x teleconverter. Because it's the old version it completely decoupled the electrical contacts on the lens, so it was manually focused, aperture is wide open and I set exposure looking at the live view image on the camera. Also lost the benefit of VR, needles to say I used a tripod. It made the lens equivalent to a 1500mm in 35mm camera terms with the teleconverter and the "crop factor". The test pictures of things only 15 feet away were very sharp, but the moon does not appear quite that sharp. Anyway it's not really all that usable, it was more just for fun.
I have done some work in post and cropped the butterflies and dragonfly, but not much sharpening, just a bit. The heron and insects were all shot at f8

Very nice set. I have been considering that lens for my D7200.

I've had that body lens combination for a while now. They work quite well together.

Thanks for looking. I bet it would be equally nice on the D7200. I got my lens directly from Nikon USA when it was on sale, I just looked and it is back on sale $140.00 off again.
