We were up in Maine, on a tourist cruise out of Bar Harbor, when we spotted this cute little sailboat just off the Bear island Light. A ketch, we were informed. We couldn't see a name, but the flag appeared to be that of the Cayman Islands. I couldn't get into AIS right then to see if an ID popped up. Tonight I was playing around in Lightroom, and enhanced a photo of the stern. It's not art, but it's now clear why we couldn't see a name. It was deliberately covered.
Now, I know that there is no shortage of insanely rich folks who have "cottages" along the coast there (that would be "7 or 8 digit cottages"). But why might the name be covered? Privacy? Famous or infamous owner? The boat itself is should be quite recognizable. What do you think?

Maybe it’s new to the owner; maybe it’s being renamed; maybe it’s part of the divorce settlement and the new gal doesn’t like the last wife’s name; maybe the operators wish to remain incognito; maybe it’s stolen, etc.

Why not wait until they dock and ask ? I mean if it really bothers you.

We see all these flash boats down here.
It belongs to a European. German I think. Its a Steel boat. Its was down in Hobart a couple of years ago. Stayed 2 weeks or so.
Fortunately for Us, Tasmania is a much moe spectacular place than US , so we see heaps of these all the time , particularly between September and about April which is our warm time of the year
Wkndr nailed it, thanks. Lots can be found on line once you know the name. This was the only time we saw it, at anchor.
I saw "Little" in the title, and then I saw the picture, and the two didn't jibe. Then I realized that it was a little mystery. I'm glad we found a solution.
Whatever its name, it's pretty. Probably do 10-11 knots???

In 2011 averaged 15+ knots for a 3000 mile crossing, top speed recorded on that voyage 25.7 knots
Pretty quick I’d say
Wow! They'll be passing cruise ships.
