At first I thought it was a Ruby Crowned Kinglet, but does not work.
Thanks for look.

I have a Peterson's Field Guide to Texas Birds but it is put away at the moment. Yes, Texas has it's own sort of since it has both Eastern and Western Birds. Looking at my Western Bird Field Guide what I might suggest is a juvenile male Ruby Crowned Kinglet. Perhaps the young lack white bars on the wings. Baby and juvenile birds usually look different from the adults. Having a red crown and yellow on the wings is pretty specific and from what I see rare. Seems to be the only species anything like your photo in my book. But I have not checked the Texas or Eastern guides.
Addendum: Yes, it also looks similar to a Green Tailed Towhee, but your pic shows no green only yellow, and the body is pretty solidly gray. We might need to know the exact size of the bird.

Good call, and lucky find according to The American Museum of Natural history "Birds of North America", they say rare to see them, they hide a lot!! Nice set by the way!

Sorry, I don't remember, it was 2 years ago and I'm working on my photo back log. I can find out if you wish.
