Ignoring The Quidelines

I shot this @ 1/40s, f5.6, 400mm, ISO 100 through a very dirty kitchen window, hand held, cropped, using the A6400 APS-C camera. The camera does not have IBIS but the lens has image stabilization. Pressed the lens hood up against the glass.

It demonstrates that breaking the rules can sometimes work. Not a wall hanger but still useable.

Looks like the woodpecker was into berries by the stains in its breast.

Nice shot. Rules are made to be broken.

Nice shot! Deviating from the rules leads to creativity, innovation, and opportunities for exploration. Nice work!

Nice image in any case. Those are not even composition rules, perhaps technique rules.

Not at all bad Joe considering the circumstances.

You've learned a value lesson. You don't need to always follow the rules of photography. Use your imagination and try anything. It just might work. I have some interesting Christmas trees images that are intentionally out of focus or longer exposures during which I zoomed in.

Whatever it takes to get the image, right? It's a nice one.
