After 5-6 years of shooting w my Nikon D5200 kit cam and lenses, I am looking for a D750 and 1 or two lenses. I’d consider myself an experienced amateur in landscape and portrait. I’ve bought little in the line of camera gear (actually my 5200 has been my only camera purchase from Sams Club in 6 years) and so wondered what your suggestions might be; where to shop for used gear other than the retails like “Adorama”.

KEH has always been reliable for me.

Any authorized dealer will have the save minimum price for new equipment. Things like extended warranties, shipping (cost and speed), return policy, and bundled accessories may allow for differentiation, but if shopping for new equipment with a USA warranty, you're not going find any differences in the sale price. If you want to lower your price, shop refurbished or used. I've found EX and EX+ rated equipment from KEH is nearly always "like new", except for that it does not arrive in the original box. Their LR rating may even include a box.

I’ve bought three DSLR cameras in fewer than two years. The first was a Nikon D5500 off of Craigslist. The camera was everything that was promised, and I loved it.

I sold the D5500 on Ebay, and bought a D7200 on Ebay. Again, the camera was everything that was promised, and had fewer than 300 clicks.

I kept the D7200 and bought a D750, also from Ebay. It, too, was exactly as promised.

The benefit to buying off Ebay is you’re 100% protected. If for some reason the camera isn’t exactly what was promised, Ebay will step in and get you your money back if that’s what you want when you and the seller can’t come to a compromise.

For me, Ebay has been a great way to buy good used, and less expensive, camera gear.

PS I’ve also bought most of my lenses off Ebay. And there wasn’t a grey market item in the bunch.

I have also done well online, often from Japan, but always with PayPal.

MPB or KEH to purchase or sell equipment. I've used both many times.

KEH is probably the best known and I usually start there, but I also check MPB and Adorama for online stuff. I occasionally check Ebay and I avoid craig's list. Don't overlook your local camera store if you have one. I've bought 2 used bodies in great condition at lower shutter counts and a couple of lenses there over the last 18 months. If your window shopping, stop by your local pawn shops as well.

me to. their ratings are conservative. My gear from them looked new. BTW take a look at refurbished, factory refurbished are as good or better than new

Thank you Mcmama
Thought of eBay but never did big ticket items. Will look closer.
Thanks

KEH has always sold me better than expected equipment at really fair prices and Adorama was also quite satisfactory as well. Use Paypal always if you have an account. Many merchants now require a Paypal transaction instead of a card or check especially if they are in another country and shipping to the USA.
Good luck...take care to record & verify ser. nos. of what you are purchasing before & after receipt of the merchandise....some people cheat and will ship a different item or an incomplete accessory package.

I have had nothing but excellent experiences using Fred Miranda's classified listings. After buying 6 lenses and camera bodies from their members, I only have great things to say about them. Just make sure you ask all the right questions, including gray market. I did have an unfortunate situation where I purchased a gray market lens, even though I asked ahead of time. But the seller had purchased it from B&H in NY and they had not indicated that it was gray, so he didn't know. Anyway, after I verified it was gray, I contacted the seller, and he issued a call tag and reimbursed my paypal account in full, including the initial shipping costs.

Adorama, B & H, also try the camera manufactures website for reconditioned equipment.
