Which one might take more abuse, bicycle pack, jersey pocket, backpack etc.? The Nikon Coolpix A or a Ricoh GR, I’d be purchasing used.

If abuse is an issue you might want to reconsider and look at any of a variety of rugged cameras.

Nope, it’s really between those two, apps-c sensor, 18mm primes, both are perfect for what I want

have a coolpix a love it -esp. the cropping in camera-very sharp-have heard of some dust input-not he'd any- otherwise solid camera-good buy!

But without a direct comparison between the two, how would you know which can take more abuse?

That would depend on the abuse. Either could survive certain events but not others. Too many variables. A "tough" camera is the way to go. Olympus has nice models.

I've had a Coolpix A for 3 years, great IQ and built very good. I had a GR model a few years back but can't say it was made any better. You will find that the A is cheaper to buy.
