I'm have a Canon inkjet and have been using Canon ink. My 9000 is getting expensive to feed. Can anyone recommend a 3d party ink they have been satisfied with?

Yes. 4inkjets.com

I've been using them during this past year. Their stuff has worked well with my Canon MX922. Big savings. And you get their ink (seemingly) in the blink of an eye!... e.g. 2 or 3 days.

I have refilled my cartridges for several years with Precision Colors brand.

Jose Rodriguez has a lot of stuff on PC inks, here is one of his videos on longevity - the main thing where the OEM inks outdo PC. You can frame with anti-UV glass/plastic to increase longevity or coat with one of the anti-UV clear coats.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uil8nmZas4

PC has a site with lots of tips, including a lot on the Canon printers, esp the Pro-100. They have ICC profiles for a lot of different papers. They have instructions and the things needed to clean and reuse the Canon cartridges - which they state are much better than the best third party repros they can get. They do offer new third party cartridges with a warning about them for those who don't want to do the cleaning themselves.

Here is the site of the fade tests that Jose cites:
https://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/portfolio/inks-and-media-testing-2017-2019/

Site with hints on archival quality printing - of course they have their own line of paper and other supplies:

Their protective varnish with anti-UV looks like something I want to try. (under "store" tab)

The great myth is that UV additive is expensive and so the 3rd party ink manufacturers do not add it; not so. Another thing, I do not have UV lamps in my living room nor blazing hot Florida sun.

There are those people who flatter themselves thinking that their work must be archival... last 100 years... really if they are that great the Guggenheim Museum will keep a digital copy to renew the famous work. I have photos that have been hanging for 10+ years with bright images... no glass... I do however use the short nap flat paint applicators to add a micro-thin paraffin coating to protect from moisture. Drops of water will roll off at a 45* slant.

Example for marketed paraffin base coating:

As you say Mikerfd, using OEM is an expensive way to go when 3rd party is usually fine. You have recommendations already in replies.

Yes, very good. Online, videos, too - YouTube.

EDIT: Keep refilling in mind when shopping for a new printer. I believe it's HP that cannot be refilled because of the way the cartridge is constructed - with a sponge(?)

I have been very happy with PC ink in my Canon Pro 10. Test prints in a south facing window without shade look fine a year out. I live south of Tampa. Good luck!

I have used www.Shop4tech.com for years with no problems for both my Epson photo printer and my HP all in one.

I was never been a 'believer' of 3rd party ink until I began trying ink from https://499inks.com/
I have used their ink for the past two years in my hp 8600 printer and have had excellent results. I buy the "XL" (larger amount ink in same cartridge) and they cost $6.99 each for the four cartridges my printer takes. Great color and so far, no problem. Excellent ink for photo printing.

Try costco's refill service.... My cartridges are half price or less.
