I have been incredibly fortunate this season having so many juvenile birds in my yard. Adults too for that matter.
Yesterday there were three adult and one juvenile Red-headed Woodpeckers in the yard at the same time. Two of the adults were going at it and making all sorts of racket as I watched through the patio door.
My yard has been blessed with the Red-heads, four Red-bellied ( 2 adults, 2 juveniles), two Hairy, and four Downy (2 adults, 2 juveniles) Woodpeckers, of course not all at one time.
There has been a lot of tree removal in the area but there is a thick cluster remaining in my yard and that of an adjoining neighbor. Perhaps that has something to do with it. Or maybe they are just peanut junkies.
Nice set of quality pics. If I put out peanuts in my yard , the squirrels would get them.
