I cropped to the corner. It was a full centered coin in the original.

For this one, I think I would have shown the entire coin!
The date is sharp, but the words "WE TRUST" are not. Are you using a macro lens with flat field coverage?
I'm using an extension tube and this coin wasn't centered. I had another coin with it and I'm hand holding it using room lighting so I know the camera not parallel to the same plane as the coin. I want to get a tripod extension so I can do a better job.
I remember having a tripod where I can invert the head I just have to find it. Then I can set the ISO down to 100 and turn of the steady shot to get a real clear photo. I really should be working instead of this.
ONLY a true macro lens has flat field capture. Using extension tubes on a conventional lens does NOT correct the curved field capture of a conventional lens.
Someone said I should do the entire nickel. I found my tripod and set the ISO to 100 and used the 5 second timer on the camera to get this. I forgot to turn off the steady shot but I don't think it would be much cleaner. I'm new to extension tubes and I can't afford a good macro lens for my Sony but looking at this image it's not too bad. I don't know what it would look like using my full frame Aiii but the A6300 is pretty good.
