Is there is anyone who uses the Libre word program? If so can you help me. I write multiple page documents and for the life of me cannot put the page numbers at the bottom of the page, much less a running number of the page numbers. If you can help me I appreciate it. I have tried everything their instructions say to no avail. It's driving me nuts!

I must confess, I don't want to pay for a subscription to MS Word. In my opinion MS screwed up, big time!

Thanks for your help!!!

Don’t know why this was posted on the UHH Photography forum, it is not related to photography.
Suggest you contact Microsoft or whoever created “Libre”. Post has been reported to Admin.

Click in the "footer"area, then click on "Insert" from the main menu. Near the bottom of the dropdown, click on "Page Number". You can then hilite the page number and justify to center (or right) if you wish. As the number itself is just text, you can add "Page" just before it or add any text that you wish. You can also do the same in the header.

My copy of Libre Office Writer has a toolbar at the top; the fourth entry is "Insert"

With the mouse select Insert | Header and Footer | Footer | Default Style

The cursor should be inside the footer, or you can select inside the footer later

With the mouse select Insert | Field | Page Number
then type in desired character(s), such as " of "
then Insert | Field | Page Count

Libre is certainly not a Microsoft project.

It is "open source" software - traditionally users help each other.

You said you'd tried their instructions, but did you look at this document? It seems to explain it well.

You have a problem possibly to do with being able to read !
The heading of this section is as follows "General Chit-Chat (non-photography talk)"
Probably all the Admin will do is suggest where you can do a course of remedial reading and comprehension.

Inserting Page Numbers in Footers
You can easily insert a page number field in the footer of your document. You can also add a page count to the footer, for example, in the form "Page 9 of 12"
To Insert a Page Number
1. Choose Insert - Footer and select the page style that you want to add the footer to.
2. Choose Insert - Fields - Page Number.
If you want, you can align the page number field as you would text.
To Additionally Add a Page Count
1. Click in front of the page number field, type Page and enter a space; click after the field, enter a space and then type of and enter another space.
2. Choose Insert - Fields - Page Count.

I down loaded the entire suite which competes with office. Along with the various programs there is a rather extensive set of manuals - all free, all downloadable. At this moment, I do not have the link but I believe it is easily findable

Oh RJ, RJ, RJ. I know that you have one or two bones of kindness and tolerance left over from better times in that curmudgeonly body, so, why not pull them out, dust them off, and let them take over your comments. Better yet, why not just go to be earlier than 11 PM when your comment was written, and your mood will certainly be better in the morning.

My very best wishes to you sir!
