I would say a tad to dark. But you could fix it very easy in post. Love the barn. You could give the greens a little pop on that one too.

Thanks for your help. I am new here how do I "fix it in post"?

Well I don't do a lot of PP. I try to get it right in the camera as good as I can. But I would try to boost the exposer some, and the brightness some. I am on a Mac and use Aperture. I just play with the siders until I am happy with what I see. Which program are you using for post processing? There are many folks on here that are very good at PP and I sure they will chime in also. If you would like I could show you what I would do. Erv
Looks like that was a tough shot, a dark subject against a bright sky. You either was the sky out or underexpose the subject. If you shot in raw the barn picture is an easy fix in pp.

That's better. The grass still doesn't look right. It does look like a hard shot to get tho. I played with it some. But like I said I don't do much either in post. If you would like to see, I can post my try. I love to play with the sliders.:) I want to do some learning this winter and get a little better at it.

Well I did say it was going to be good. :) But I like to play with some of my pictures that don't turn out right. Some times I get lucky. Let me know what you think. The thing I go by is if it looks like what I saw.:)

Make sure you hit the down load to see the bigger pic:)

The fence and flowers photo is similar--and much better than--a nearby scene I've been trying to capture. Thanks for your splendid example.
All the best,
Martin

I really like the barn as it is, but the sky needs to have those clouds brought out so I tried using another layer to increase saturation and tone down the highlights of the sky, then erased the barn, grass, trees, etc on that layer which is on top of the original.

Has been mentioned - but subject has too wide a dynamic range for easy JPG compression.
-
Shoot RAW and recompress in post processing - - OR, and even better, - - take a 3-shot auto-bracket series
+ 2 eV and recompose using HDR software (ie Photomatix - - there is a free watermarked version you can play with before buying it)
-
If you don't know what I just said - - not a problem :) Look around, play with it a bit, keep coming back - -you'll get it !!

My oldest son is a professional photographer and he told me always shoot in RAW and Manual. I have learn a lot his way. I really don't do post processing much. I just don't get it! Thanks for the advice!
