Serendipity on the Grand Canal

A vaporetto ride in the morning down the Grand Canal of Venice offers the excitement of a unique city awakening.
I was shooting "architecture" not realizing there was interesting human activity also in the view finder.
In the first, I was intrigued by the parked gondolas, the mosaic on the building and the bridge over the canal. Not until I was tuning did I realize there was a couple on the bridge romantically viewing the small canal. From their clothing I deduce they were newlyweds at the end of an all-night reception. What a wonderful memory to share with their children and grandchildren. I just wish I could share the shot with them. How would that fit into the wedding album?
When tuning the second, I ended up cropping out a lot of the architecture I had originally been attracted to because I realized I had captured a morning coffee drinker admiring the GC activity...he probably does every morning.
The third shot is interesting because of the missing middle of the sculpture.

Thanks, jay. It's an interesting exercise shooting from a moving boat, particularly the "Honeymooners". I was trying to compose the constantly changing small canal into my shot and had no time to realize there were people on the bridge...took multiple rapid shots.

Many thanks, NMGal. I agree with your assessment of the first shot. I made an attempt to zoom in (via crop) on the couple, but it lacks sharpness.

Great set, I think the couple in no 1 add the finishing touch to the picture...
