Need help with Canon 5D4

I have had this camera for 3 years and for the past 6-8 months the batteries are being drained when the camera is off. I have already cleared all custom functions, that didn't help. I also went back to all default settings, that didn't work either. I have 6 Canon batteries some 5 years old. But, I also have a 7D2 and none of the batteries are drained in that camera.
I have drained all the batteries completely, not by design. They are drained after 8-10 days in the 5D4 while the camera is turned off. The same battery will last for months in the 7D2.
Any suggestions will be welcome.

First, do a total reset of the 5d4. No, change? Have you tried the same batteries in both cameras? Seeing the same issue would eliminate the batteries as the culprit. If the issue moves with the batteries, they’ve been caught. Another thought, buy a new battery for the 5d4 and see what happens.

The camera will continue to drain even when turned off unless you disable Mode 1 in the GPS settings. Also, right below GPS settings is the communication menu. Ensure the wireless settings are turned off unless you need this feature at that time. That will also continue to drain your battery needlessly while your camera is turned on. It will be hunting for a Wifi service. I'd recommend going over those settings in your manual to fully understand what happens.

There are several things possibly at play. Try a new battery and also a new charger as well. As they age they tend to weaken in the charging stages and never achieve full status even though the charge light indicates a full recharge.
Also record dates when you charge the batteries of each camera to track the accurate time between charges for each one as we sometimes forget to refresh them when they need attention.
Finally.....reset the camera to original factory settings and start from scratch.

Rechargeable batteries don’t last forever. If these are 5 years old, I’d guess you need to get some new batteries!

Check to see of you have the wifi on, in other EOS models, this caused a drain on the battery when the camera was off.

Make sure the GPS is turned off.
I turned it off when I got mine. If I don't know where I am when I take a picture than I have more problems than a camera setting.

Not all the batteries are 5 years old. I purchase a new one for each trip to AK and one is only from last Oct. I have marked that one so I can tell that one from the others.

I forgot the Wifi & GPS....if they're left on , it will kill a battery for sure.....sorry.

If you have a battery grip on your body, aftermarket grips can drain the battery if the grip's switch is left on. Whatever it is, sounds like an accessory or powered feature like GPS is the culprit.

I had experienced no problems with my 5 Canon batteries with my Canon 5D Mark II. I used these same batteries with my 5D Mark IV. I would be swapping out the drained batteries every other day. I though that the touch screen was the issue. I would shut off the camera, and still no change. Then a fellow Hogger recommended I reset the GPS and WiFi functions. BINGO! That was the issue!!
By the way, with camera batteries I only use original manufacturer. This is not because I'm a purist, I am in mortal fear that they might leak.

I have many that are a dozen years old (5D M III) and they perform as new!
