There is a reason why the Plains Indians prospered and spread after they got horses and learned to hunt Buffalo from horseback.

Their hunting horses were sometimes the same ones they rode to war and sometimes even better than some of their war horses. That hunting horse kept a man and his people eating and alive. With a good fast horse a hunter could dash in with a spear(usually trying to cut the ham strings) or use a bow to put an arrow(later bullets) in the lungs or heart then back out to safety. And sometimes even with skill and a good hunting horse the buffalo won or it was a draw.

When they mostly lived around the edges of the plains and in some wooded valleys where they could hunt deer etc on foot hunting buffalo on foot was very dangerous. They are huge compared to a man, can run faster and longer than a man, have horns and a temper plus when they trampled you with those relatively small hooves supporting all that weight you became one with the earth.

It seems that an image like the young girl being thrown was photographed so well. Is it better to get the picture than try to aid. Makes you wonder what if the person was drowning should you throw a life savor or record it.
Sorry just a thought from a person whose mind wanders.

It looks like a cell phone video. The person was looking at the screen and like watching a movie or TV a thing called "suspension of dis-belief" kicks in. It wasn't real, it was on a screen. Takes a little while for many people to jerk their mind back into the real world and realize what was going on was real life and real people, not special effects and a stunt person.

How would the person taking the video have any idea the buffalo was going to charge and throw the girl? What could anyone have possibly done to stop any of it from happening except to not be there with the animal in the first place?

Don't you think that probably after the animal left the area and/or it was safe someone immediately gave aid to the girl?

Oh, for those who are going to correct me I do know these animals are rightfully called bison and not buffalo. Of course the fact that for hundreds of years they have been called buffalo is what causes me to call them just that. In the late 1800's there were no bison hunters, just buffalo hunters in America.

*HOW* was the person taking the video to predict the happenstance of an event maybe 1/4 mile away?
Who are we talking to here? Superman? The Flash? Dr Who?
Most human's reaction time is about 1/2 second. That person is already in the air. What to do ...
Maybe you could go there, explain your position to the bison, do a little kumbaya for us.

Why does this bother me so much ...
It's just one more person whose intent on pretending that there's maybe something wrong with somebody else makes them pretend there's something right about them. Sit back, smile, you a winner.
