This is a magnified view of a moth's face. You can see the individual scales and how much they shed them. I find these moths in the shades of our floor lamps where they meet their demise so they are a good source for hunting for subjects.
Great idea for practicing macro!
These small moths are very fragile and they shed their scales at the slightest touch. I enjoy shooting something everyday so I'm on a constant hunt for subjects and I find lamps, lights and the sliding tracks of windows to be a good source for subjects around the house. A number of insects also get into our sun room although a lot of them are red paper wasps.
I would think that if there were smart enough to get in there they would remember how to get out....but that doesn't seem to be the case based on what I find there.
