Thought I would share this with everyone...

This is a panorama created from six separate shots, with the camera in portrait orientation, and pivoted on single point centered on the sensor plane hand-held. Exposure for each shot was ISO 800, f/16, shutter speed 1/320. Lens focal length was 24mm with a 24-105, f/4L on a 5D Mark IV. X-Rite Color Passport 2 camera calibration was used. I did use a polarizing filter to reveal some of the rocks below the surface (left side of the image) while attempting to retain the reflections of the sky and mountain tops. Each individual shot yielded a 4480x6720 pixel image. Merging them into a panorama using Adobe Lightroom Classic provided this 11,551x4969 pixel image. Additional finishing accomplished in Photoshop.

The lake is Olallie Lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near North Bend, WA. The journey to the lake was a three-mile hike with an 1,116-foot elevation gain. At an average pace of 2-3mph, the trek took roughly one hour and forty minutes.

The hike was both fun and challenging and the post-processing was an enjoyable, interesting experiment and learning experience.

The attached file is size-limited via Lightroom export set to 20MB. The original file is 53MB.

It is simply amazing how well the digital pan process works. This is a fabulous image. Hope you make a large print to show off the detail. Well done!

That is a beautiful picture.
If I tried that hike I would need an air ambulance to get me off the trail.
Hope everyone everyone enjoys this picture as much as I do.

Thank you, Tom. Indeed, I have been quite impressed with how the digital pan process works. An interesting bit of story to this image is that I had two sets of shots. One set was taken from one position on the beach and the other set was taken from a different position. My plan was to make two panoramas but neither one yielded the image I wanted. Thus, I chose images from the two sets that have quite similar information with with some overlap and relied on the software to do what I hoped and expected it to do. I was certainly surprised. The final processing in Photoshop was essentially to eliminate some artifacts as a result of images being taken from two different points of reference.

I am definitely considering printing this one.
