Nikon's Ad Campaign

Nikon is pushing its Z series, mirrorless cameras, really hard, focusing (pun intended) on their use as video cameras. All us "still" shooters don't seem to matter any more.

Probably just trying to entice the video people.

Nikon is a for-profit company and has many types of customers. You seem to be taking this personal and I don't see it as personal at all. They make a product and I can buy it or not, my choice. They want to sell products, period!

I'm not taking anything "personally." I'm on their mailing list and I've noticed that ALL the emailed ads they send me are for the Z-series cameras used for video. They're even sponsoring a contest with big money prizes for the best videos (I repeat, videos) taken with a Z camera. My D850 takes superb videos, but I'm not eligible without a Z.

But, thanks for preaching the obvious.

MILC is particularly suited for video because the user has use of a viewfinder even when recording. Maybe Nikon is hoping for new strength in this area now {especially as a challenger to $ony}

The few times I used my D800 for video, I mounted it on a tripod and used the LCD screen to monitor the action. Seemed to work fine.

I'm all for them making as much money as they can (especially at the expense of Sony); what caught my attention was their strong, almost exclusive emphasis on using their new cameras for video.

I own the Z6, but not for video, I own it for its high ISO low noise capability, beats my D850 in that regard.

D850 didn't do very well in DxOMark "sports" score, which shows high ISO performance. With all the hoopla about their "100" score, that detail was largely overlooked.
