In Alaska our fall begins in mid August while the "lower 48" states are sweltering in heat...August in the northland is typically cooler..often rainy and usually in the 50's...the long weeks of the midnight sun come to an end...the long absent moon arrives in our northern skies, the stars begin twinkling once again.
Saturday we drove from Anchorage to Glennallen..a 350 mile rt,this is what I saw ...comments desired and appreciated
Thanks the colors will be more brilliant in a few weeks...but fall is here for sure...

well the colors have just started coming out...fall colors are short lived...from august through september...november is getting cold and the leaves will all fall...snow will be here by hallowe'en typically....often in Anchorage the leaves will be falling still onto the first snowfall and raking of the leaves then becomes a job for next spring....

These are fabulous Lass, makes me really want to travel to Alaska. I partularly like the panaramas #2, 4 and 7 and the last one is so dreamy. We are cooling down here too. Hope you put more pictures up as the season goes on. Thanks for the good show
nice lassy...you say it is cool but they look a little hot to me...#2 is my favorite. I would love to be there and take in these sights
Great shots. I see the fireweeds are still blooming. As I did for many years, the beginning of September ist the best time to photograph your beautiful state. BTW. The restaurant in Glenallen serves the best Salmon dinner anywhere, the great Copper River salmon.
Great shots of a country I'd love to visit one day.
Beautiful shots! Thanks for sharing! Fall is a long time coming in Florida.
And a hurricane comes to our neck of the woods:-) Very pretty scenes!
Gorgeous Lassie. The more pix you show the more I want to visit your lovely state. Who knows, I might even land on your door step!!
BEAUTIFUL! I have never been to Alaska now I want to come visit someday.
