Okay, stupidly (Or rather clumsily) I took a tumble whilst wearing my Hoodman around my neck on some very slippery rocks by the coast. My Loupe came disconnected from the lanyard. I managed to find it in a rockpool, but in my rush to pack up and get taken to hospital and treated for a hand injury, I didnt realise that the end eye piece went missing. Ugh! I have searched the WWW to try and find where I can purchase a replacement. Fail. I have contacted Hoodman via their website over 1 week ago now, no reply from them. Very disappointing.
So, my question is this, does anyone know wher I can purchase the missing eye piece in UK or Europe. It is the old one piece style of Loupe, and I love (Loved) it.

Okay, stupidly (Or rather clumsily) I took a tumbl... (show quote)

You are lucky to be alive. Hope you are healing. I do not believe Hoodman sells parts. Look on Ebay for the old one piece style for a good buy.

I have a newer style Hoodman and the eyepiece is a clear glass or plastic. It may be possible that yours may be also. If so you might be able to take a piece of Lexan or Plexiglass and fit it in place. Our local hardware stores sell small square sheets for a variety of uses, perhaps yours do too.

See if you have a coin that happens to be the same diameter and if so you can use it as a pattern to cut or grind out the size you need or place the end on the Plexiglass and mark around it.

Check with your local optical shop. They probably will have something already cut that fits or can cut you one for very little.

Sorry, perhaps I wasnt as descriptive as maybe I could have been. The factual optic component is still in place and still focuses for my eye. It's just the rubber eye piece that missing, the part you actually put up to your eye. I could purchase one that's kind of teardrop shaped, think those are marketed for eye glasses. I was trying to purchase the round type though. However, thanks for the very quick responses.

The healing will take time it seems, but the body is a wonderful thing, with a little help from the hospital

Is there some reason you don't just purchase a new one??

Yes, £128:00 worth of reasons.

But if it is that important to you, doing it right is most important.

Indeed it may come to that - Eventually! However, prudence suggests a more logical approach of repair in the first instance. Surely, unless you are fortunate enough to be awash with money to waste, you can understand why I'm seeking a replacement part initially.

Rubber eyecups are available for a variety of uses. You might find one that's the right size at a local optical shop, camera store, or on eBay..

Good luck - I hate having to throw good gear out because of missing parts. I regularly surf "the bay" for broken equipment to use for parts on stuff I already own. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Thanks for the reply Andy, I'll search the "Bay" as you suggest. By the way I agree with you sentiments entirely re throwing away good gear just because.....

Good for you! It's practical as well as ethical.

I just bought a beautiful Omnica fitted case for my Leica IIIa. Unfortunately, the eBay description as having "not the original strap" was an understatement - it had a small men's belt looped through the guides, which basically provided a handle rather than a strap. I'm searching thrift shops, eBay, and everywhere else looking for something that will do. I'll figure it out eventually, but I know I'll wind up with a great, usable bag, even if it's not cosmetically perfect.

If this was important to you, you may have to bite the bullet.

If I am shooting in extreme lighting conditions and I am outside, I use the Hoodman to check my exposures before I shoot again.
