On the southwestern coast of Norway. In the center of town is the Stavanger Cathedral (Dom Kirke) which dates back to the city's 12th century founding and has been in continuous use since then. It is Norway's third largest city and metropolitan area. The Gamle Stavanger (Old Town) area consists of over 200 old wooden houses and shops on cobblestone streets dating back to when they were built at the end of the 18th/turn of the 19th century. Nearby is Hafrsfjord where in 872 AD and epic sea battle was fought that united Norway into one kingdom. There, three giant swords are embedded in rock to commemorate the battle.

Lovely pix. I'd surely love to visit Scandinavia before it's too late (for me).
Good set. Thanks for taking us there.

Thank you Richard for taking a look and commenting, very much appreciated. It is never too late. We are in our 80’s and our goal is at least 2 trips a year, usually a cruise, and most years we make it.. follow the Nike motto, just do it!

The farthest north I have ever been is the Baltic coast of Germany. I would love to visit Scandinavia. My youngest son married a girl from Sweden.
