I was walking my dog, and I saw this on a porch...no leash. It was just sitting (laying?) there. I just had my iPhone, didn't want to get too close and scare it off.
I don't think it is an Iguana. We have lots of the pests here in South Florida and I have never seen one with vertical bands. Tried a quick search and came up with nothing. If I get a little more time this afternoon I'll search again.

It will help to know the geographic location where this was found...I looked on GOOGLE IMAGES, but didn't find anything useful without knowing where it was seen.
Yes, iguanas are good to eat. But they don't taste like chicken. More like frogs legs or gator.
A little hot sauce, a little garlic, a little cumin, make skewers out them with peppers and onions, put over charcoal, some cold beer. Tasty.
I can't find any ID. I suppose it could be an iguana. Where did you take the photo?
It's hard to ID something when there is no location data.

I am in southern Michigan. These are not indigenous to the area.

I looked up "BASILISK LIZARD" on "GOOGLE IMAGES", and it's definitely NOT a Basilisk Lizard or anything close...gotta keep looking.

Found it. Black Spiny tail Iguana, Ctenosaura similis. Native to Mexico. It was introduced to Florida.

Well thanks for that! I thought it was an iguana, but want sure. I showed the picture to the neighbor who's porch he was on and he said, "WTF!?!?!"
Not an expert but have photographed Green Iguanas in the USVIs. The young Greens have stripes. They fade with age
