Focus problem

Fellow Hoggers, I inherited a Leica V-LUX 2 camera. while practicing with it, I cannot get it to focus. I shot an object at most of the zoom range. The images are not in focus. In manual focus same problem. There is no focus ring, just a little button you press (WTH). I have been through the instruction book and I can't find anything in there about this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would check if you have the latest firmware updates.

Don't know the camera, but two thoughts come to mind:
1) does the camera have a reset option in the menu system and have you done a reset?
2) Does it have a full Auto mode and have you tried putting it on a Tri-Pod and using full auto??

Don't forget to use the rear dial to focus when in manual focus mode (pp 75 of user manual). Also read page 76 for precise focussing (focus peeking).

My thanks to all the replies. I am still not happy with the results, perhaps a call to Leica is needed. Thanks again everyone.
