Laptop to run Affinity Photo

I’m looking to purchase a laptop to run Affinity Photo on and edit my images. I’m familiar with their minimum spec guidelines but what do you recommend I look for to run this software smoothly? I’m looking to hear from those who have actually done this. Thank you.

How long is a piece of string? it depends really on what you are processing if you are stitching together panoramas from a camera which has large image files then you will likely find many computer systems will handle that kind of load poorly. With moderate size images most computers will perform adequately, if you add 100 layers again most systems will struggle. Rarely is the minimum spec an enjoyable experience i've run affinity photo on a mac with 3GB ram and a core 2 duo. These days i use a mac with i5 or i7 processor and 16GB ram. I think my current systems are adequate but others may demand a higher performing system.

All i can really say, is don't buy a system with a celeron cpu, they are terrible for most tasks.

I've been using a 15" HP Spectra for over a year for editing however with the latest version of Affinity they show ability to preview WCG (Wide Color Gamut) which requires 10 bit display depth and it only has 8 bit. (so I'm bummed). But still a great laptop so far.
I'm sure others will put in a bid for Mac's and I'm sure that is a great solution as well.

New MacBook Pro 13” w/256 GB SSD and 16GB RAM. About $1700, but it screams. And the screen is to die for.

I run Affinity photo on an old W7 laptop. It's a bit slow but gets the job done. I only use this setup when running courses and the U3A people are a bit slow anyway. Any modern laptop would handle it with ease.

Thank you all for your feedback. I also notice that Affinity has a version of Photo for iPads. Has anyone hear used that? Is it good?

The last two times I needed to purchase a lap top for processing photos I went to my local computer store. I went to the LOCAL computer store, not a big box store. I told them what I wanted to do; they asked some pertinent questions and recommended a range of lap tops that would more than meet my needs. The sales/tech people at my local store work on salary, not commission, so there was no question about them upselling me. Whenever I need anything computer related I go to my local store. Did I stress it was my local store?

My laptop was dieing after about 6 years of hard use. I shopped for a fast i7, larger SSD and larger yet HDD. The best I found was at Costco. I've had it a month and very pleased.

It works great. However, iPad custom monitor calibration and profiling is an issue... It doesn't really exist.

If accurate screen-to-print color is required, then the recommended workflow for Affinity for iPad is to start work on a file on your tablet, then finish it on your desktop or laptop computer with a hardware calibrated and custom profiled desktop monitor.

Although Affinity Photo will run on almost any computer, I'd recommend:

CPU: i7 or better
Min. RAM: 16 GB, 32 GB is better
Storage: 1 TB SSD
Display: a fast video card is nice but not really necessary

I'm running AP on a Lenovo YOGA 910 and also have it installed on a YOGA 900 and a tower (dual i7 CPU's, 64 GB RAM, 16 TB storage (4 TB SSD and 12 TB harddrive)).

Affinity Photo is great software but it does require adequate hardware for it to really perform...
