I have owned an Epson V700 Photo for years and use it every day. I use it with Vuescan software which is well worth the price. I don't scan slides or 35mm film strips because I also have a Canon FS4000 for that, but I would use the Epson if I needed to. Flat plate scanning for everyday use is easy with the V700/Vuescan combination. I have saved setups for B&W PDFs, Color PDFs, NY Times Daily Xword, Sunday XWord, Business Cards, and many more. I have scanned 100 year old newspaper pages in sections and stitched them together in PSCC Photomerge. With Vuescan I can scan as DNG files if I need. The simple task of scanning receipts every day is no problem. Whatever scanner you decide on, try Vuescan instead of the software that it comes with.
