You came up with and excellent suggestion for a win/win, just give her your RX 100, and get the M6 for yourself, then you'll both have what you want/need.
Yup, sounds like a win/win, doesn’t it?

That is a REALLY good deal!! Thank you for that link! A lot cheaper than buying a Sony RX100 VI for myself and giving her my RX100 III!
You’v been very helpful. Thank you.

You are welcome.
If you want the M50 with the two lens kit then check the Canon Refurbished site at least daily. Because they are demos, displayed at electronic shows, returned stock from stores that closed (all too common today) etc what they have available comes and goes fast with popular models. The SX50 I got my wife a few years ago I checked everyday for a week and when it popped up as "in stock" I ordered it that instant. We still have that camera in addition to the T6s I got her. Due to changes by Canon many people still rate the SX50 as a better camera than the SX60 & SX70 models released since. At least two wildlife/bird photographers have online sites on using it.
If you don't know the the SX50/60/70 models are super zoom/"bridge" cameras with a fairly large body (much bigger than the M50 but not as big as a regular DSLR) with a fixed zoom lens that goes from wide angle to long telephoto and many of the controls of a dslr. They are popular with those who want more than a pocket Point and Shoot but don't want to have to change lenses. Their drawback is they are rather "slow" lenses and need good light. Some models of "bridge"* camera do have a hot shoe and all the flash options of a dslr.
*The nickname came about because they are a "bridge" from P&S to interchangeable lens cameras. Some people get on the "bridge", like it there and never finish crossing over. My Wife likes hers, esp the fact it does HD video but when she found something it couldn't do during our Daughter's "White Coat" Ceremony at Medical School one of the first things she said to me when she got home was "I need a better camera!"
I just purchased used an old Canon Power Shot G16 because it has a viewfinder. Can't imagine taking a pic without a viewfinder. It's quite small and fits in a purse easily.
Take a look at Panasonic.

Oh yeah, I reversed that. It is a G9X. I think the G9X Mark II is $50 more. I did look at some of the others in the G series. I’ll do another comparison.
I didn’t mention that those other two are lacking a viewfinder because I don’t think that will matter to her. I was most interested in feedback from someone who HAS the Canon EOS M100.
Just a thought - I have lady friend who is not a photographer. She used to have a P&S but said not having a viewfinder was a problem for her in bright sunlight, yet somehow she manages with a cell phone

The average cell phone/camera lens is an ultra wide angle, hard to miss the subject even if you can't see the screen in the sunlight.
I think it may be best to have her select the camera from those choices you listed. She will know best which features are most important to her. You can offer her assistance as a technical advisor and explain to her the differences between the cameras. But the choice should be hers. Although she is your granddaughter, the fact is she is no longer a child, and probably does not want to be treated as one.

Yes, amazingly, it is not a problem on cell phones!! I have experienced that with a tiny Sony I had years ago. Personally, I would not buy a camera without a viewfinder!
Also, the battery life sucked, like it was non-existent! I think the newer cameras do a better job with their battery power now.

I wanted it to be a surprise; but you are probably right. She should probably pick out her own camera.

I hadn't considered that. Which one is comparable?

Both 1" sensor:
Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100 (10X zoom)
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX10 (3X zoom but f/1.4-2.8 max aperture.)
I have the Canon M100 and M5 and 5 lens. I also have the G7X MkII. I use the GX7 MkII 90% of the time now, when I carry a camera, because it is pocketable, has a fast lens and a decent zoom from 24-100mm. I also like the touch screen focusing. Like you, I also have 2 children with children ages 10-2 and assure you that 100% of thier pictures are taken with thier iPhone 10's. Editing iPhone images is very easy now and results can be terrific even up to 11x14 prints. I just returned from a trip to Barcelona, Amsterdam and Normandy and the combination of the G7X MkII and my iPhone 10 were very convenient and complimentary.

In like the ZS100! It has a viewfinder and it is on sale for $200 off! Thank you.
