Are we not all "tourists"??

Those of us who live close to the park consider ourselves locals and those who come in the summer are called tourists. While we depend on them economically, we're glad to see them go at season's end and peace and quit are restoed!

It's been over a year since I've been there and I couldn't believe the differance... unbelievable! The crowds were at record levels and it was so bad that I couldn't find a parking spot to most of the best sites! Worse yet was the distruction and repairs due to last year's floods, fire and drought!
Comments Welcomed!

The crowds have become sad, but understandable. Yosemite is truly one of God’s greatest creations. I remember well when you could drive in, park your car and enjoy the Valley. Once I became a big wall climber, the crowds were not an issue. We would spend days at a time on the face of El Cap, Half Dome, etc, and the crowds were entertaining to watch from two counties above. I will return, park the car and use their fantastic shuttle system to enjoy and shoot the Valley. But now that my big wall days are behind me, I’m sure that I will be further saddened to have to deal with the crowds. Oh well...😢

We were there on July 5. Crowds were brutal. Worst day of our vacation. We hiked part of Upper Falls and did Vernal Falls. So much more I wanted to do but we couldn't get out of there fast enough.

I like your shots. I agree- the Merced River was raging!

That's to bad. The date was not the right time. Perhaps next time on a different date.

Sorry to hear that Mike! Better luck next time! Being close to the park is a blessing in so many ways!
