First use of Canon my 1DX MKii this past week end.

Interesting in the first shot that the Mustang emblem is readable behind the cone. The look and color of the blurred back round has an appealing look, that is much different than the 5D MK4's I am used to using.

It seems the MK4 will capture more detail in the deep blur, but the 1DX MKii has cleaner color, with superior contrast. Both cameras fit specific needs for me, but I am impressed with the accuracy and near perfect image that comes with the 1DX MKii.

Having no buffer to worry about takes time to absorb and if you are used to the crash at about image 13 with the MK 4, the 1DX MKii is such an amazing experience.

Yesterday we attended the annual reunion of Paul's mother's side of the family at Rancho Barnette. For someone like me who comes from a very small family the size of the party was impressive - a great bunch of people!

We are under severe thunderstorm watch so I am starting the weekend thread early. Remember - it's OK to "Post and Run". It's summer and you needn't comment nor feel obligated to do so. Go out and shoot, eat, have summer fun, catch a few roadtrips. Thanks, Bob for hosting last week. Lots of wonderful close-ups. Starting our weekend with storms, a grandson overnight, fishing tomorrow, and a retirement party sunset cruise tomorrow night. Maybe I'll get some memorable shots. We have a thrasher and family who have regularly frequented our suet this summer. When I cropped him/her I was surprised at how intricately marked this bird is.

Very nice bird, Pat. Our kitchen windows from the outside must look like trees with bird feeders hanging from them. We often have bird strikes against them, and if we’re sitting with our morning coffee the loud “THUMP!” can be quite startling. Most times it’s a body blow and there might be evidence of what hit and caused the sound.
