I hate phone cameras, but . . .

Being a loyal Canon 5D Mk IV user I am not a fan of phone cameras and how everyone who owns one now thinks they are a professional photographer. However, while fly-fishing they can work out pretty well. Our little group of catch-and-release fly- fishers have a rule: No Picky-No Fishy! If you do not have a photo of your β€œπŸŸ of a lifetime,” don’t bother telling us about it; we won’t believe it!

This phone shot turned out not so bad.

Nice phone shot. That trout was just the right size for a good dinner.

Always better than no camera!

On my screen, that photo is grainless, well-composed, exposed, sharp, colorful, and pleasant to look at. Don't think a 5D MkIV image would (or should) look much different...phone-shots do have a place in this world!

They certainly have a place on my hip in the middle of a river! 😁. I would not even dream of taking my Canon where I take that iPhone 7s.

Everyone who owns a phone camera now thinks they are a professional photographer? What a ridiculous statement.

I agree with you. I know lots of people who use their phone cameras and none of them think they are professional photographers.
Also, why does the OP "hate" phone cameras?! Phone cameras are just another form of point and shoot cameras. Does the OP also hate point and shoot cameras, or is it more a case of camera snobbery?! I too have a 5D mk IV and several point and shoot/bridge cameras, and I don't hate phone cameras or the people who use them, although I do find the folks who use their laptop or tablet cameras for general photography to be quite annoying.

Guess it depends on the screen used to view the images.

As demonstrated, if you capture a good exposure, good / sharp focus and sufficient pixels for editing, a phone camera is a great step-1 for a quality digital image.

Not much different from people who own DSLR's. I think that those who use cell phones instead of camera's are not so hung up, pompous, arrogant or intolerant, and do hold those who use DSLR's with such distain.
