I got a job to take some fair pictures and I need to get a good printer that I can print 5 x 7 pictures with a day time.
Usually send out but can't on this one. Also need to a good price for machine and ink. Thanks

Costco.

Much less expensive, better quality, and ready by the time you can reach the store.

Best Buy, Fry's, Staples. Usually I will not recommend the first two, but if you get an HP, Canon or Epson in factory packaging, I don't THINK they can screw that up too much (but they'll try)!

Check out the Epson's. You can find excellent quality ink online at very, very good prices. Their Artisan series even prints cd's. The kind of Epson uses a 6 cartridge system. This is better than the usual 3 ink systems. All the new ones come with 100 year, waterproof ink which is nice. You can find the replacement ink for this at reasonable prices also. Oh, and you can get the printer at good prices online if you know where to look.

E-Bay ( would recomend Canon Pro Mark II 9000.)

I am an Epson lover. If you are going to be doing any black and white printing and some larger format printing, I would start with the R2880 and work up.

What do you mean by: "fair pictures" and "with a day time"

Are you going to shoot photos at a county or state fair and print them on-site?

I've shot a lot of events which require printing on-site and an inkjet wouldn't keep up. Quickly realised we needed a dye-sub printer. Our Sony can crank out a 4 x 6 in 8 seconds and a 5 x 7 in 15. Cost per print is somewhere around .25.

Why are you interesting in taking only "fair" photos? If I were you, I'd go for excellent photos. :? :? ;) ;)

Sorry. It's still early.

I'm a fan of Epson Photo printers, I too would recommend the R2880. I believe Epson inks have a little edge on the big makers. Just be sure to look over the net for good ink prices.
You can also invest in after market ink systems that come in bottles and sit beside some Epson printers hooking up to the printer for big print runs bringing the cost further down on the ink..

ah, hem. Epson is one of the big makers. Lol. Most of your Walgreens and other in store developers use Epson equipment.

I have seen guys using r220's with the bottle setup. Now that is hard core! I just use standard cartridges but mine are refillable and I refill then myself. Not messy at all. I order my ink from a real knowledgeable guy out in Long Island. He only sells quality ink. It comes down to about 33 cents per cartridge.

Here is the kicker: Within a mile of my house, I have Walgreens, CVS, Sam's Club, and a Costco. I just like doing it myself because I can. Anything bigger than 8 1/2 x11 I have to use one of those guys.

I used to take fair pictures, but after spending so much time on UHH and buying a "really good camera," I now take good pictures - working toward "great."

You're lucky. Within a mile of my house, I have trees. :D
