Identify please

These pictures are not that great but I was have trouble deciding if they were Indigo Bunting or Blue Grosbeak. I know one is a juvenile and his beak looks like the Grosbeak but the other looks more like a Bunting. Is it possible that they are different
and not both the same. Please advise.

"Blue Grosbeak has tan wing bars."
"Indigo Bunting is blue all over; no wing bars."

That is out of my Roger Tory Peterson Field Guide to Western Birds. I'd have to check on of my other books to see if East Coast varieties are the same or not.

Your top picture does not show the wings (enough). The bottom image seems to be a Blue Grosbeak.

Hello Roger

My guess we first is a Indigo Bunting, the second one is a Blue Grosbeak.

I first thought that since they were in the same area that they were the same species but after comparing the beaks they looked different. I agree with you I just wanted to get a second opinion. Thanks and good to hear from you
