Thank you !! I worked at the Space Center from Nov of 1980 until Oct of 1993. I was the Fire/Rescue Chief of the Center. I never ever thought the Fire Dept would send me to Africa but I have been there 14 times. There were contingency landing sites there in case the Shuttle could not reach orbit. First in Dakar Senegal, and then in Morocco and Banjul, Gambia

Ever think of writing your memoirs? I sure would read them. Are you retired now? What a life you have led.

Thank you !! I have written them, the intent was to provide a sense of family history etc to my grandchildren and their children etc. After my service in the Marines, I joined the Daytona Beach FD I retired after 21 years as the Operations Chief, was retired for 23 hours LOL then started with the Kennedy Space Center as a Captain, retired again after 13 years as the Fire Chief, retired 4 months and got a call to come teach at the Fla State Fire College, which I did on a part time basis for 15 more years giving me a total of 49 years in the Fire Service, retired fully in Dec of 2008

There have been a few interesting things in all those years. I was stationed in the same barracks at the same time with Lee Harvey Oswald in Atsugi Japan. I went to Houston in 82 as a member of a team to develop the Astronaut rescue procedure for multiple Astronauts, and a ton of stuff in between LOL. Heres a couple more shots

Sounds like a fascinating career. Oh, before I forget sir... thank you for your service. As a former military man I say that with the profoundest gratitude for what you did for our country. Thanks again.

Simply fantastic! I was coming back from a few days on leave in 67,in FL. I wasn't ,paying attention and ran into cars pulled off the side of the road. People were even picnicking, I pulled of the road and suddenly realized I was near Cape Kennedy. I watched a rocket go up. What a sight that was.
I was told there was a monkey aboard. I thought,we were beyond that phase.
