Any particular reason why Canon?
I have a Canon PIXMA TS 8020 all in one-fine for general photos. It has 6 ink cartridges. I also have a Canon Pro 10-which I think may be more expensive that the 8020. I

Photo printer or general purpose? if you want a photo printer, pretty hard to beat the Canon Pro 100. On sale at B&H for $399 with a $250 rebate - $149 final price and you can often get a pack of 50 sheets of Canon 13x19 gloss paper thrown in.
I have a canon pro 100 which is about $ 200 after rebate. They screw you on the ink. However I have used T surplus ink ( a set of 8 cartridges is $22 instead of over $100 for Canon inks) and I can tell no difference.
If the printer is for photos only, the Canon Pro-100 cannot be beat, with all the rebates. If you're planning on using the printer for day-to-day printing documents off the computer or copies - don't even consider using the P100. (A document takes for-ev-errrrr on a photo printer, and it doesn't scan or make copies.) And, from experience, I can tell you that printing photo prints on an all-in-one printer will go through so much ink you'll stop using it. For those who complain about the cost of ink on a photo printer, figure it out on an office printer! Makes any photo printer look like stingy on ink.
If your budget allows, and you need a photo printer AND an document printer, with the rebates available on both, get the Pro-100 plus an all-in-one. With the deals going on on with the Canon MX922 I've seen recently, both would probably fit in your budget. Remember, though, that the Canon Pro-100 requires an $400.00 initial outlay, and the rebate comes in about four to six weeks as an AMEX gift card.
I've had the Canon pro 100 for a couple years now. . .I love it. I use Canon semi gloss paper with it. By the way I have 3 other Canon printers including a 36" ipf 760, they're all great and the telephone support is outstanding. You can't go wrong. Mick

great price until you see it come with startup ink and new ink costs $125?
I have a pro 100 for the past 4 years and I love it. Excellent color fast printing, I can say more about this printer but I need to go print more photos now.

Hi; I have two 6820's and buy replacement cartridges from Abacus Prime for ridiculously cheap. I have color photos that are up to 8 years old, hanging on my walls and in albums with no fading, discoloration, etc.. They may not be quite as good as the more expensive printers produce, but they are not very far behind. I love them.
Also, I recently had surgeries (now okay) and didn't print for a few months. Used the printers cleaning program a few times and was up and running with no problems. Great!

It's difficult to pass the Pro 100.
