You're very welcome, Frank. I think we're both ready for Africa now. I'm in the planning/dreaming stage right now with a couple brothers and a sister. The same ones that I was supposed to be going to Alaska with in 2 weeks, before I hobbled myself!

Of course, those destinations are high enough on my list, that I might try to get in touch with them & tell them I'll go in your place!!!!!

Well, you've got 2 weeks to pack a bag and a camera. Their adventure sans moi, starts on the 15th of July. Whale watching trip out of Seward, Brown Bears fishing at my "secret" place on the Kenai peninsula, 3 days across the Old Denali Hi-Way, etc., etc.
I'm going to have to stop before I start crying
If you want to see some photos from my last trip there look up my posts titled "Bears".
Another of my brothers just got back from Africa 2 days ago and I can't get him to shut up about how great it was.

Now that sounds attractive ... but it sounds like a boat & flying is involved ... the Mutt has no problem with going on a boat (she's been on the ocean in a small boat) but commercial boats don't allow dogs. I also won't put her in the baggage compartment on a plane & I don't think it's right to try to make her a service dog ... so we have to drive. But maybe when you're mobile, I'll meet you up there one day. Alaska is really high on my list ... Africa would be except the Mutt can't go. How crazy is that? But she's made my retirement.
That' s one shot to be proud of
GREAT opportunity ! - Stunning result with just a 70-200 lens ! ?? ......thanks for sharing

Thanks kybill1252 ... I am proud of those shots ... although I'm also honest enough to know there was about 75% luck ... 20% great equipment ... & 5% being prepared. So I don't get much of the credit.
Welcome to UHH ... I hope you have a great experience here & I look forward to seeing some of your shots. It's a great place to learn & share. Best to you.

Thanks imagemeister ... your comment means a lot because I've seen some of your shots. And yes, the 70-200 is an awesome lens. I have a 100-400 & almost used that but this one is a faster lens & I was dealing with really bright sunlight & deep shadows.

I understand about dogs, they are a gift to mankind and I think possibly super natural to boot. The last time I was in AK I went up in my 5th wheel trailer and stayed for 2 years. Only boat involved was the whale watching trip. No planes used. Who knows, maybe next time I can stop by and pick you up and we'll make an adventure of it! You're on the way, sort of. North anyway.

READY!!!!! You crack me up ... & for the record ... the Mutt & I can be packed & loaded in under an hour!!!! ;) But I suggest ... if you were to leave from where you presently are ... it would be a hell of a detour to go via VT ... so best I come that way.
Really nice set, like them all
