Well I was probably about 10 feet or less. I was only using a 70-200 and needed to back off on the 200 when it came closer.
It really only wanted to continue on though (I suspect, ha) and most likely only wanted me out of it's way.

Might want to get a signed model release. Great shot! They look so strange when they stand up on all fours and walk, and they can move pretty fast. I'm glad he wasn't in a hurry.
