Anybody Use a Notebook Computer for Travel?

I'm an amateur and about to take a cruise to scenic Costa Rica with my D7000 and need advice on equipment to review my daily shots. I don't own a full size laptop and don't want to carry one around so I thought an 11.5" notebook would work. Do any of you use such a computer to download your images? Which one? What software works for you?
Any other advice for downloading and reviewing images while travelling? I would not do any post processing, just a look-see to determine the next day's shoot. Or should I just go ahead with a full sized laptop? How about that Epson Viewer I see on EBay, or the iPad? I'm open to any ideas but need to keep the cost and weight down.

I have an Epson p5000 and I love it, but you may be better off with a larger screen. Just my thoughts

Thanks. I had the first Epson p2000? and I, too, loved it. I sold it when I stopped using it for several years, much to my regret now.
I bring my MAC Book 13" - it's small and I can do my post processing if I want.
If you want to just look and no PP, get an iPad 16gb. Photos Pop!
I travel to a place 100 miles from the nearest road at the edge of the Darien Jungle in Panama, about 110 miles south of Panama City on the Pacific side.
I bring a 17" MacBook, an iPad, a 2TB external firewire drive, 64GB worth of data cards for my D7000, about 32GB of cards for my D2Xs, about 6 zoom lenses, 60 or so Duracell AAs, circular polarizer, rechargeable NiMH AAs, Gitzo Fluid Head Tripod... but I digress...
If I were pressed, I'd just get the new iPad for its amazing screen (better than ANY non Mac screen,) and a camera card reader kit for it. I would get the big one and leave off the movies and music for more photo space.

I am pressed so I will look seriously at the iPad. All my kids and even me grandkids have them. I was a bit worried because there are so many negative reviews about the Apple Camera Connection Kit.
I bought one just to travel with. I store eveything I take on Picassa. I only edit when I get home (on ELements). It allows me to guage what I've got, and to back up everything.

Thanks. I'm off to the Apple Store on Monday.
I use the Aser net book. Love it. Small yet perfect for downloading and previewing pictures
I do about 99 percent of my travel on motorcycle so space is a must. I use a 14" laptop with the full keyboard and load photos in it every night from my cameras. If you have any internet connection, send the photos there also. If you have a large SD card or several of them, don't erase the photos from them either. Why? 2 Years ago, returning from a trip, I lost my laptop out of the top box on my bike. Lost ALL Pictures from the trip from all of Florida.

Hi, when I bought my camera bag the specialist shop suggested to get one with a pocket padded for an Ipad, so later on it will fit in and be protected so well. Everything is , will be, in one place, and yes, save photos as often as you can.Easier than a notebook, versatile, lightweight, and if you haven't got one, learn before you go. Greetings from Jean.
How about an iPad with camera connection kit? Just plug in your SD card and it will populate to let you view. Great device. And if you wanted to do any PP filter storm is the app I have used.
