1956 Chevrolet Bel Air, 4-
door Sport Sedan
Nice pic. Ah, when cars were really cars!
Gorgeous car. Loved the look of no pillar with the windows down. Is that a Mercury with the breezeway rear window next to the Chevy?

Gad!!! That is beautiful; my first car was a 56 Chevy (yellow). Should have never traded it in on a 63 Pontiac Catalina 4dr hdtp; Should have kept the chevy also. Live and learn.
That Big M on the far side looks like a Turnpike Cruiser. 57?
My dad had a '56 like this one, minus the fender skirts which I don't think were standard on those cars. Otherwise, it looks "standard", down to the hubcaps. My first car was a brand new '58 Impala. I still flog myself for selling it.
Nice photo!
Those old guys are nice to look at, but I wouldn’t want to have to go back to driving one of them.
When in junior high school, I worked at a mom and pop grocery store every afternoon and all day long on
Saturday for $12 a week after SS and taxes. When storeowners Bob and Alice traded their '53 Ford for that blue '58 Impala with an AC I knew the little store had made them rich. That Impala cost $2,800. Alice's brother Harry had one of those Mercury Turnpike Cruisers with a rear window that went up and down. And a pretty blond housewife down the street drove one of those pink '55 Thunderbirds. Fort Worth, Texas was a good place to be in those days for a guy in the 9th grade that had a new pair of Levis and some pointed toe boots to wear down to all the new car dealers when they rolled out the new Bonnevilles and such every fall.
At 76, I miss those days and that America.
Nice photo. I think the '56 is the best of the '55-'57 Chevy series of classics.

Very nice. I would like to see one of the 1963 or '64 Mercury behind it if you have one. My first car was a '63 Mercury Marauder.
That's one of the nicest '56's I have seen in many a year and that black finish is so regal looking with that sloping roofline and all the chrome on it. I want one for myself.
Very good shot, Ken. Love the 56' Chevys, especially the 2 door hard tops. I had a 55' convertible that I wish I still had.

Sorry. I arrived at the show just as they were announcing the winner of Best In Show, the 56 Chevy. People started leaving immediately & I just shot what I could get. That Merc pulled out before I could get a shot.
