Picked this camera up with an 18-150 and 15-45 kit lens set for travel. With the crowds and pace of European group travel in the summer, I am determined to travel light....so I leaving my SONY a7iii and lenses home.

Know it falls short for video (which works for me...I am not a vlogger😜), but the stills it produces seem to be sharp and the color rendering is excellent.

Anyone have this for travel? Thoughts?

TIA

I carry that camera in the car all the time for those sudden opportunity shots. When we went to DC last year it was the only camera I took as it wasn't a photo journey, just a trip for grandson who had never visited DC. I got some great night shots of the monuments.

Enjoy your travels.

Happy shooting.

Seems like a reasonable choice for your usage. I did something similar but chose the SL2 so I could use existing lenses. Got tired of hauling a big one around. Excellent pictures and hard to tell results from those with my other camera.

I've had mine for about 6 mo. Also bought it as a light weight alternative to my DSLR. I only have the 15-45 m lens but I bought a vello converter to use my existing lenses. Works Great.

I had one until I upgraded to the R. It's a super camera, tiny, easy to use and takes the same quality photos as any other higher end Canon crop camera. I got so used to the touch to focus screen that I couldn't go back. I have sold quite a few photos I took with that camera.

The video is very good, not sure why you think it falls short? It's very nice quality, the colors are very good in standard and the auto focus in video mode is really, really good. The IS in those lenses is excellent, they are all STM for silent focusing too and its so easy to switch back and forth and save your settings. It's the camera that got me interested in video. If you want to upgrade the color profiles for video but can't be bothered with Magic Lantern I recommend Canon portrait profile as a nice sort-of-log option.

Btw- the 55-200mm lens is a better telephoto if you want to upgrade and the 22mm f/2 is an absolute gem of a lens. Totally recommend for travel for indoor shooting, it does great with that. It seems brighter than f/2 to me.
