Most camera brands allow for adjustment of the amount of time the shot just taken is previewed.....usually in some incremental arrangement like 2, 4, 8, 10 seconds, etc. On my Sony Alpha models it is selectable, same on my Nikons, Canon and Fuji's. On my Sony A37 it is called "Auto Review" on page 2 of the little gear symbol. Turning it off saves battery power and enables immediate second, third shot and would start to slow down as buffer is filled, like during burst, or string of multishot. Tapping the shutter works too, but an extra step.
