Hi, I have never used this before and am now trying to put together a slide show with a few hundred old family photos with sound track and want to create a CD to make copies and distribute to family members.
If you have any advice and/or tips, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Larry

Photoshop Premier Elements may be designed more for video clips than for slide shows.
Other UHH members may be able to suggest better slide show tools.

Do you have Premiere Elements 15 or Premiere Elements 2019?

I use Premiere Elements regularly. Basically you put the photos into a project using Add Media, then arrange them on the "timeline" and output an MP4 video. You can them distribute that video on a CD or any other media.

There is a good eight part tutorial on YouTube that will give you a head start. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xPQaLu2wko

How far along are you?

Actually both. Even ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) is built in. You can work RAW photos in Lightroom and then import them into Premiere Elements directly. As long as you turn on the option to save XMP files, the Lightroom adjustments will be seen by Premiere Elements.

Premier is mainly a high end video editing system. I did a birthday video with stills the other day
with Final Cut Pro Apples video editing. Both are complicated if you havent used it before.
Both Power Point and Apple's Keynote (even better) are easier and better to make a slide show.
If you have never worked with a timeline and the workings of editing I have done a nice
show in ppt. Good luck.

The OP wrote "Premiere Elements". It can be used for "higher end" projects but is not related to Premiere Pro CC except in name. You also buy it, not rent it.

Jay,
Thanks for the tip. I will check out clips a bit later this morning. I have Premier 2018 and have actually not started to work on my show. I am just scratching the surface, as it were.

Topics can veer off track fast here on UHH! It has already been written that Premiere Elements is designed for video clips, it is excessively complicated and competes with professional editing systems. Premiere Elements is a superb entry level program for home videos and slide shows.

Back to the OP, Hambar06, how far a long are you and what are you slideshow goals?

Jay,

Is this your first use of Premiere Elements? And, where are the photos? Are the photos organized? What is the format of the photos?

Bill,
Yes, I have had Premier 2018 on my computer for about a year, but have never tried to use it until now.
My photos are in a specific file on my computer and I have tested and downloaded it to the Premier program. I am not ready to continue as yet as I have more photos to add to the collection. All my photos are JPEG [a mix of B&W oldies and color mostly from slides and downloads from my current digital camera [Nikon P610]]. I have two groups of slides; the largest are arranged chronologically and a separate group labeled "undated".
I have now found a few tutorials on the computer and am about to sit thru them, but so far have not.

Larry,

Since you've not done this before, I suggest you watch the basic training series I linked to above. Each of the 8 parts is short. (The same guy does a thorough, in depth course on Linda.com).

Once you get the idea of the workflow, do a project with about 10 images to get the bulk of the learning curve behind you.

Bill

(Full Disclosure: I'm biased. I am a committed FanBoy! 8 or 9 years ago I got a copy of Premiere Elements so that my granddaughters and I could learn video editing. Adobe sponsors a question and answer user forum. I asked a lot of questions. Gradually I started answering some. Someone at Adobe liked my answers, gave me the title of "Adobe Community Professional" and they give me my software. My part of the bargain is to continue answering questions and I do so daily. )

Go to photodex.com and check out Pro Show. I recommend Pro Show Gold. They have Producer but it’s more for professionals. Lots of samples, tutorials etcetera. They also have a 30 day free trial. Great customer support. You can incorporate their music or yours music and video clips. The varieties of visual effects are very impressive.

I use powerpoint for slide shows. Easy to load files and side show can be automatic or slide by slide manual. Easy to rearrange slide order.

I also recommend ProShow Gold by PhotoDex. My wife and I have created shows from 3 minutes to 45 minutes. ProShow Gold provides the easy to use tools to make a great show with music, voice-overs, etc. You just pour your images into the program and you can easily switch their places, add or delete images. There are many YouTube videos to help you. I've used it for several years with great success.
