Well done, amazing detail for handheld. Was it also a stack of shots? Looks like so much depth it needs multiple images.

No stacking, just a Sony DSC H5 bridge camera with a Sony VCL-DH1758 Tele Conversion Lens (1.7x) coupled with a Sony VCL-M3358 close-up lens. I set the ISO as low as it would go, cranked down the aperture to increase the DOF. With this set-up it's sort of like tele-macro. You still get the close-up without spooking the subject. Then a little cropping, gamma adjustment and contrast adjustment in PP.
