WOW! What a great picture. Thanks for sharing.

Another one taken through a closed window at a 45 degree angle.

This is the hummingbird as an orchestra conductor.

Sometimes my hummingbird leads the other others birds in the sound of a full orchestra. Here he in instructing the horns to come in fortissimo! Note the beads of perspiration on his nose. They are dripping down and spilling off his toe feathers! LOL

Thank you.

I don't understand your question? Yes, I used a radio remote to trigger the camera's shutter at 1/250 seconds, but it's six Godox flashes firing at 1/128 power that provides a short duration of light that lasts for tens of micro seconds that freezes the image. The fast accurate auto-focus of the Sony A99II camera also helps with the sharpness.

Dave, I am spending so much time "green with envy" that I may stay green forever.

I decided to use a different lens today. I used my 70~300mm lens set at 250mm.

I took 43 photos like this today. I have not had time to look at all of them. This was the second of the series and I performed my PP on it so I could see one before I go to sleep.

I proved to myself that anyone can do this; you do not need the exotic 600mm f/4 lens that I have been using. It's all about the lighting.

Really tack sharp on double download! Beautiful Davethehiker. Maybe it's time for you to follow Steve Perry, and produce an ebook to purchase for those of us who would like to follow your techniques and learn how to capture some of these stunning images. I'll purchase the first one !!!

My local brick and mortar camera club has asked me to give a presentation on how I take my hummingbird photos. The thrust of my presentation will be how anyone can use creative thinking to take photos like I have been posting. In the past I believed that one needed an exotic prime lens to do this. Indeed, I was using a 300mm f/2.8 or a 600mm f/4 prime lenses. I discovered recently that many of my good lenses worked just as good. One does not need expensive exotic lens.

Thank you, but I'm retired, really retired! I have written an e-blog posted by Gary Fiedman years ago. That was too much like work. I would rather cut weeds on my trail.

If you attend my camera club meeting in Washington PA on March 3rd 2020, you can attend my presentation.
