In manual mode with 24-70 f4 lens all I get is dark screen in view finder and monitor. All other modes no issue. Removed lens cleaned contacts. Do I have setting wrong or bad lens or camera issue. Sent note to Nikon.
Any ideas HH
Try opening up shutter and f-stop to let in more light.
Yup been there tried that. Did not fix issue. All other modes pictures are fine. Same setting on manual black picture

What is it they say about buying products when they are new sorts of products for the first year or so until they work the bugs out? I'd bet you would not have that problem with a D810 or D7100. Good luck.
Waited 6 month to get initial bugs out.
This is why I only buy from franchised !!!! Came from B&H and register on Nikon. So back to Nikon it goes but will notify BH
Lens cap? Just kidding...

Did you call Nikon first?
Of course this happens on vacation. Sent Nikon email. Not sure they have tech service on weekends. But will do on Monday. Tnx

You are on vacation!! Oh no.
Don't worry we (UHHers and you) will figure this out. In the meantime use one of the other modes.
So let me see if I understand you. If you set A mode and say you choose an aperture of f4, the camera chooses ISO and shutter speed. Everything looks good.
But when you set the M mode, and you set the identical ISO and Shutter speed as what the camera choose, if you use set the f-stop to f4 the viewfinder is dark ? Is that correct?

My apologies if he is not.
That was a troll-like off topic statement and thus my response.

Fantastic. That did it. No idea how or when that got turned on. Been using Z6 for months on manual. Much appreciated and many gold stars.
