The final two ports on our river cruise were Vienna and Budapest. The ship docked right at the Chain Bridge in Budapest. After an extra day in Budapest (it rained) we flew to Rome for four days before the long flights back to Phoenix and Tucson.
Hope you enjoyed the last two days both are magnificent cities.
Other than the lens distortion in photo #8, it's a great set! I lived in Vienna as a child, and in Budapest in the early '70s. Vienna never changes. Budapest is remarkable in the changes it's made since throwing off the yoke of communism!
Excellent series, Arcadia.
all great shots. Especially like the parliament shots. Did this cruise a year on Avalon Cruise. Best tour I ever did.
Great shots! Doing a river trip, Prague to Budapest in August, with GCT, stopping also in Vienna, Lizst, Bratislava, Krems, Cesky Krumlov. Any suggestions?

I would love to visit Hungary. I have an old army buddy living there.
The Melk Abbey in Krems is amazing. You'll need something good in low light, my old D5000 wasn't it. Last Sunday's Chicago Tribune had a Rick Steves column where he talked up Bratislava. We found it interesting, very quiet Saturday morning and foggy weather. Oh well. The original post didn't mention the Fishermen's Bastion in Pest (across the river from Buda), a must see.
