I recently bought on e-bay a Sigma MC-11 mount converter to adapt Canon lenses to my Sony e mount (a6000) camera. To my chagrin, I discovered that it would only accept Canon EF lenses; my Canon ef-s lenses would not "fit up" or mount to the adapter. I have since read some comments online to the effect that one could remove the four small screws securing the lens mounting plate, remove the mounting plate, and find a plastic or rubber spacer/bumper held by another set of four small screws. Supposedly, one could remove these four screws, remove the plastic/rubber spacer, then replace the mounting plate, and EF-s lenses could then be mounted to the device. I have not had the nerve to try it. Does anyone have any experience or information on this procedure--or indeed, on any practical way to "fit-up" EF-s lenses to an MC-11?

For the next person that reads about this solution...it works...I just want to add that the screws on the MC-11 are NOT "Philips" heads...they look just like a Philips but are actually "JIS" (Japan Industry Standard)...which are shaped slightly differently.

The danger is that a regular Philips will not bite as well and there is a good probability that the screw head will strip.  I know.  :)

So either be very careful with a Philips, or get a set of JIS drivers...they are $20 or so on Amazon.

Also wanted to add that it's ONLY CANON-BRANDED EF-S lenses that have that plastic protrusion that prevents their EF-S lenses from working with an MC-11...Canon-compatible crop-sensor lenses from all other manufacturers (Sigma/Tamron/etc) do NOT have that plastic protrusion, and work fine on an MC-11.

Also...the Viltrox and Comlite EF/EF-S to E adapters do NOT have to be modified to work with Canon EF-S lenses as for whatever reason, they chose not to block up the inside of the adapter with that same shaped plastic that Sigma used.

The Sigma MC-11 adapter was not built to Canon brand EFS crop sensor lenses, but it WILL work with all other brand crop sensor Canon mount lenses. Canon intentionally adds a hard rubber extension to the rear of these lenses to make them limited use.

You would have to use a dremel tool or something similar to remove .........

“... would have to use a dremel ...” ?!?

“Would have to ....” sounds too much like speculation. Have you actually done this to any canon EF-s lenses ?

The extension ends in a semi hard ring which I have removed without damaging anything. This still is not enuf to fit my mc11 but I have other adapters that had only slight obstruction and removing the ring fit my EF-s lenses onto those. My “tire iron” for removal is carved from a popsicle stick. Do avoid metal tools.

If you’re not using the limited selection of Sigma brand lenses intended by Sigma for use on the mc11 then there is nothing about the mc11 that is superior to other adapters costing about 1/3 less. Plus these other adapters usually allow canon EF-s lenses (maybe remove the ring, maybe not necessary).

OTOH the very lowest price range is worth avoiding ... sloppy fit, shabby latching etc.
