I think this is a fine image but also eerie. I'm not sure I would approach that door, much less open it.

Ed, first off, thanks for the compliment. The area is part of a hotel and not quite as mysterious as presented. However, the lighting and time of morning inspired me towards the mysterious and ominous. I'm glad that interpretation seemed to work.

A lot of b&w images are overly dominated by stark black~white contrasts; a good many exhibit an overdependence on mid-tones. Few seem to balance the two.
Neither is the case in this image of yours, Bob. You struck that balance. And you did so while balancing technique and content, something less common still.
I'd be very proud to have made this image. You should be doubly so.
