Taken at a local wildlife area Friday afternoon. I was really lucky that they sat so long in one spot. All taken with the camera on a tripod, 150-600mm lens and a SB-900 speedlight.

Beautiful images of some gorgeous flowers, Lesley, and a wonderful start!

We took an "extended" vacation with our closest friends, so I wasn't able to
comment on all the wonderful images you folks have been posting, but I sure
did enjoy viewing them.

We visited a new place while at the Outer Banks this time around called the
Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, and besides the most vicious bug bites
ever, we had an awesome time. We were fortunate enough to see seven black
bears in mid-day, which is quite unusual, and the following images are of a mother
and one of her cubs. When the mother saw us, she retreated into the woods, but her
cub took off in the opposite direction. We were all surprised that the mother let
the cub get over a 1/4 mile away from her before chasing her down and bringing
it back.

I was about 1/2 a mile away with a 250mm lens, so these images have been
cropped, some of them severely. I hope you enjoy.

Nifty sequence - glad mama didn't consider you a threat - you are aware, I hope, that bears can run faster than humans?!?

I found this small trail, and trails always entice me to see where they go so I stepped up and got out. Shortly after I found some big drums at the top of a small ,very small waterfall and the drums are there to recuperate water to furnish several camps there at the outfitter's camp. The flow would disappear under fallen trees, behind rocks and eventually empty into a lake where my son was fishing right at the mouth
