Hello R.G. I came across a few people on Barra and South Uist whose first language was Gaelic. One guy I spoke to, who was digging peat, couldn't explain the finer points of the art in English so he dropped into Gaelic not realising I couldn't understand a word. I let him carry on as it would have been rude to interrupt him
