Yes, but for me, the sepia adds just a touch of real.

I like the first image. It shows the boldness that only Black and White can evoke. Sepia softens the overall image. The feeling I get is one of strength, especially in the hands.

The person in the second shot is older tham the first shot.
I like the softer image of the second. I feel it evokes a more emotional, nostalgic response.
I prefer the sepia, and they are nice photographs; but I don’t get any emotion from either of them.
Good lighting but a tough composition.
I really like them both. Each has its own style and statement, but to say which is better would be very difficult.

Thanks all. I am reminded that not only subject, composition, light, and processing vary but so do our individual perceptions. So this is a good place to show our work as we can get feedback that is relevant and helps to evaluate our own vision. Thank-you
